What are they doing is a project of Gerard Lebik and Ryoko Akama in which even they don’t expect to know what they are doing in each performance.
Whilst Akama deals with motors, magnets, fans, bowls or other found materials, Lebik participates in with rotating air cans.
We may say our concept as – Layers of subtle sounds intertwine each other to create a collage of acoustic vibrations and air fluctuations, changing space into an acousmatic instrument and changes the conventional properties of listeners’ perceptions – but really, we are messing about with objects, enjoying being in the space with the audience and our objects spinning and running away. You think what we are doing? and we are not sure what we are doing now nor next.
